Electrolytic capacitor is a kind of capacitor whose metal foil is the positive plate (aluminum or tantalum), and whose dielectric is the metal oxide film close to the positive plate. The cathode is composed of conductive materials, electrolyte (the electrolyte can be liquid or solid) and other materials. The electrolyte is the main part of the cathode, hence getting the name electrolytic capacitor.
