New energy refers to all kinds of energy sources that are different from non-renewable traditional resources such as petrol and coals, as well as energy just begun to be developed and utilized or is being actively researched to be promoted. Super capacitor is an advanced environmentally friendly energy storage device, which is between traditional capacitors and energy storage batteries, using an electric double layer structure composed of activated carbon porous electrodes and electrolytes to obtain super-large capacitance and energy storage. Supercapacitor not only has the discharge power of traditional capacitors, but also has the ability to store charge as chemical batteries.
The advantages of super capacitors on electric vehicles:
1. The super capacitor can be charged quickly, and it can reach 90% of the rated capacitance after charging for 10 seconds to 10 minutes;
2. The supercapacitor can be charged and discharged hundreds of thousands of times, the working time is longer than that of the battery, and the performance loss is low. In daily use, it does not require excessive maintenance, saving maintenance costs and time;
3. Environmentally friendly, super capacitors will not pollute the environment from production to use to disassembly, and are ideal environmentally friendly energy sources.
Although the energy density of super capacitors is lower than that of batteries, it can only run for a short time, but with the development of technology, it is believed that the shortcoming of super capacitor energy density will be overcome.
