Thermistor is a sensor resistor whose resistance value changes with temperature. According to the temperature coefficient, it is divided into positive temperature coefficient thermistor and negative temperature coefficient thermistor. The resistance value of the positive temperature coefficient thermistor increases with the increase of temperature, and the resistance value of the negative temperature coefficient thermistor decreases with the increase of temperature. They are both semiconductor devices.
The main features of thermistor are:
①High sensitivity and its resistance temperature coefficient is more than 10-100 times larger than that of metal, and it can measure the temperature change of 10-6℃.
②Wide operating temperature range, normal temperature devices are suitable for -55℃~315℃. High temperature components are suitable for temperature up to 315℃, and low temperature components are suitable for temperature range from -273℃ to 55℃.
③Small size, able to measure the temperature of voids, cavities and blood vessels in organisms that other thermometers cannot measure.
④Easy to use, resistance value can be arbitrarily selected between 0.1~100kΩ.
⑤Easy to process into complex shapes and mass production.
⑥Good stability and strong overload capacity.
Precautions for measuring thermistor:
1) From the definition of the nominal resistance Rt, this value is measured by the manufacturer when the ambient temperature is 25°C. Therefore, when measuring Rt with a multimeter, it should also be carried out when the ambient temperature is close to 25°C to ensure the reliability of the test.
2) The measured power shall not exceed the specified value, so as to avoid the measurement error caused by the heating effect of the current.
3) During the test, do not use your fingers to touch the thermistor body to prevent ensure the testing effect.
