Phones, tablets, and laptops have become essential companions in our daily lives. When these devices run out of power, we need chargers to "replenish their energy."
Chargers function like "gas stations" for these electronic devices, and their quality directly affects our user experience. It's important to note that chargers for different devices shouldn't be used interchangeably, as their power outputs and connectors differ. Mixing them up could damage our devices.
As electronic products become increasingly powerful, the circuit designs inside chargers grow more complex. Within these circuits, some components are affected by temperature changes.
The thermistor is an important component in chargers that can detect temperature changes and convert them into electrical signals. It serves three main functions in chargers: suppressing sudden current surges, monitoring temperature, and providing temperature compensation.
When we plug a charger into a power source, a strong current surge occurs in the circuit. This sudden large current can not only damage internal charger components but may also interfere with the normal operation of other electrical devices.
Thermistors are installed at the input of the charger and have high resistance at normal temperature. When the charger connects to a power source, they limit excessive current, protecting the internal circuit. After the charger operates for some time and temperature rises, the thermistor's resistance decreases, consuming minimal energy without affecting normal charging.
When choosing a charger, the quality of the internal thermistor is crucial. Low-quality thrmistors not only fail to protect the circuit but may also lead to device damage. Therefore, when purchasing chargers, you should select products with good quality and reputation.
