Y capacitors are capacitors connected across the power line and the ground line, usually ceramic capacitors. They typically appear in pairs, mostly with a flat, round appearance and a blue color. They can suppress common-mode interference, and their capacitance is in the nanofarad range. Due to leakage current constraints, the capacitance of Y capacitors cannot be very large. Y capacitors are mostly suitable for isolation applications. According to IEC standards, the minimum electrical clearance for Y1 products is 8.0 mm, and for Y2 products, it is not less than 6.3 mm. As safety isolation products, a sufficient safety margin should be provided to avoid arcing when high voltage is applied.
Characteristics of Y capacitors:
Ceramic dielectric with a high dielectric constant.
Flame-retardant epoxy resin encapsulation.
Passed safety certification standards such as CQC, VDE, ENEC, IEC-CB, UL, and CUL.
Applications of Y capacitors:
Used in power supply circuit noise suppression circuits for electronic devices.
Can be used in antenna coupling and bypass circuits.
Various types of control boards for small household appliances.
Power filters.
High-frequency AC loads.
Switching power supplies.
Electronic ballasts.
LED energy-saving lamps.
